Ella Clocksin investigates visual and tactile-somatic perception using drawing, mark-making, texture, light and shadow, performative action and digital media. Her latest video works explore the connections between physical movement or touch and metaphorically and emotionally being moved or touched.
Informed by literary and mythological archetypes and psychoanalytic theory, her research focuses on the less readily articulated aspects of experience, patterned subliminally within the body and its movements. These include paradoxical experiences of presence/absence, closeness/distance, embodied emotion, and bodily knowing before the conscious mind formulates language.
Ella is an emerging British artist, based in the South East, UK. She completed an MA degree in Fine Art, with Distinction, at Winchester School of Art in September 2010. Working collaboratively, Marius von Brasch and Ella launched Susan Projects in 2011, to provide artists with curated opportunities to show work in temporary gallery spaces.
